Joined lab in 2022 and graduated in 2023
I graduated from the University of Minnesota with a B.A. in Human Physiology and a Minor in Biochemistry. I joined the O’Connell Lab in my final year of undergraduate studies, where I completed my honors thesis alongside Sara Puccini. This project focused on determining the binding requirements of agonistic and antagonistic drugs to the alpha-1A adrenergic receptor using computational modeling. Since the completion of my thesis, I have remained a member of the lab where I primarily manage the mice colony used for experimental purposes. My role consists of weaning, breeding, genotyping, and maintaining various mice lines. In addition to my work, I assist with the projects of other lab members. Being in the lab has offered me a new perspective on research and furthered my interest in pursuing this field in my future studies. My long term goal is to receive admission into medical school and become a practicing physician.
